4 Deathwish Skateboards To Pick Up in 2016 - Skateshop Review

One of the premier skate brands getting into skate shops near me is that of Deathwish. You know the brand, they are rough and tumble boarders that take on a serious approach to skateboard design and graphics. If you haven’t seen these at your local skate shop, or you’re thinking about searching online for skateshop options that carry these, you may be out of luck.

If you cannot find these 4 Deathwish skateboards at a skate shop near you, then it’s time to go online. The following are just 4 picks that you should consider when picking options from Deathwish, and can order them online and have them shipped to you.

Deathwish Dickson Story Time Skateboard Deck - 8.25"

Up front is the Deathwish Dickson Story Time Skateboard Deck - 8.25". This is a good overall sized skateboard, and you may see it in skate videos from the Deathwish crew. Chances are you will want to use this one at skate parks because of the size and the shape overall. It’s a solid 8.25” wide option that has a lot of upside overall. You can pick up the Deathwish Dickson Story Time Skateboard Deck - 8.25" at a skate shop, or click HERE and order it online.

DEATHWISH Skateboard Deck - MOOSE LOW LIFE FORM 8.125

The second option that you may see at a local skate shop is one that lampoons Alf. This is for those that like to smoke, like the 1980s, and are fans of Alf. Alf on a skateboard! You will love this skateboard design, no doubt, and something that you have to see to believe, as it really pushes a great overall design. If your skateshop isn’t carrying the DEATHWISH Skateboard Deck - MOOSE LOW LIFE FORM 8.125, then click here and order it online.

Deathwish Lizard King Destroyed Skateboard Deck - 8.38" x 31.75"

This is a funny graphic from Lizard King, and it features a throwback to Kiss. I’m not sure if Kiss is aware that their style is getting made fun of or paid tribute to from Deathwish skateboards. I haven’t seen this at any skate shops near me, but hey, that’s just because I live in a weird spot. If you’re looking to pick up a new skate, then this one is a great one for heshers that like to hit skateparks and hit vert a lot. This is not a great street board, but then again, it depends on your preference. The Deathwish Lizard King Destroyed Skateboard Deck - 8.38" x 31.75" can be picked up at a local skate shop or you could click here to order it online.

Deathwish Lizard King Ratchet Zombie Skateboard Deck - 8" x 31.5"

Deathwish puts out a solid deck with the Deathwish Lizard King Ratchet Zombie Skateboard Deck - 8" x 31.5". This is another one that you’re going to love, especially if you don’t see this in your local skate shop. I can testify that I didn’t see this at any skate shops near me, but again, I live in a black hole. Skate parks will proably not like you having this one, as parents will cry. But if you see the Deathwish Lizard King Ratchet Zombie Skateboard Deck - 8" x 31.5" at a skateshop, pick it up. It’s a good deck. If you don’t see it at any skate shop, then click here and order it online.

There you have it. There are 4 skate options from Deathwish that you will want to pick up in 2016. I don’t see these at skate shops near me, but you may see them at skate parks and skate shop options near you.

Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Monster Lg Skateboard Deck Review

And here we go, one of the tried and true solutions from Toy Machine skateboards. If you have been following along with the brand since they first started, then you already know this design quite well. Well, here you go the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Monster Lg Skateboard Deck is out again, and this time around it has some nice reinforcements. The latest overall deck ply construction is added on this one, so it’s not like you’re getting another deck from the late 1990s. Instead, this is an updated option that was released in 2016 by Toy Machine skateboards. There are some unique points to this, which is why it’s a best seller for skateboard shops around the country.

Size and Shape

The size of the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Monster Lg Skateboard Deck is 8.12 x 31.5 last time I checked. It’s still the same size, don’t worry, there are several sizes that you can get with the Toy Machine Vice monster graphic, but this is the “large” one. I liked the added .12 actually, as it let me have just a little extra for kick flips. The shape is the classic Toy Machine skateboards rounded edges with pop and a little concave. You always know what you’re going to get with Toy Machine, which is always a plus in my view.

Graphic Style

The graphics on this solution is classic Toy Machine, Templeton design. The monster is a brand image that you know and love, right? I have been looking at this graphic for years, and the upgrade is not quite the same, but hey, that’s my 2 cents. As far as the graphics, it’s standard in many ways. If you’re looking for something that is no-nonsense, then of course this is going to be one of the options you’ll no doubt want.

Overall Board Feel

When testing the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Monster Lg Skateboard Deck I noticed that it was strong, and light. I was able to flip it with ease, and found that there were no weak points. I like the subtle concave on the Toy Machine 2016 skateboards line up, and this is no different. I found that the subtle extra .12 makes a difference for me. I like the overall design, and shape, the board felt strong, and I only fell once, because I’m old.

The Bottom Line On The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Monster Lg Skateboard Deck

If you’re in the marketing for a deck from the 2016 Toy Machine line up, then you are definitely going to appreciate this one. Toy Machine continues to put out quality wood, and this is no different. Whether you’re new to skateboarding or you’re a veteran of skateboarding street style, the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Monster Lg Skateboard Deck is definitely worth picking up right now. Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Mold Dead Vice Monster Skateboard Deck Review

In my reviews of the latest crop of 2016 Toy Machine skateboard decks, I kept talking about how the mold and shapes that they were putting out were right out of the 1990s. Well, this is different. The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Mold Dead Vice Monster Skateboard Deck is a prime example of some of the better, up to date construction that they are putting out. This is a vice mold deck, and it has a serious amount of strength. The brand has found a way to add more strength to the wooden ply’s that are put together. That means that you’ll have a hard deck, that isn’t going to break right away.

Size and Shape

In the case of this Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Mold Dead Vice Monster Skateboard Deck, you’re going to find that the size and shape is 8.25 x 32.5. The length bugged me at first, but you know what, it’s not that noticeable when you’re bombing a hill. I launched myself down a set of 3 stairs, and managed to catch the board square, without breaking it. I’m not a light guy, and when I land off of large obstacles, I hit the board with everything I have. Part of it is just to not fall, and the other is because I’m determined to still skate in my 30s. The size is good, pop is nice, the shape seems like it’s older, but the vice mold is evident, no doubt.

Graphic Style

The graphic design style of 2016 Toy Machine skateboards are cartoony. I don’t know if they put out anything that isn’t a cartoon. Whatever the case is, you’re going to get that classic looking monster, with a black and white feel, and natural grain background. It’s like the red and yellow decks that Toy Machine skateboards keeps putting out, but with a little update. I think it looks cool overall.

Overall Board Feel

When testing the latest Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Mold Dead Vice Monster Skateboard Deck, I found that it’s solid. I like the added .25 inches and the extra length at the ends. I was able to flip it nicely, but found that my foot wanted to move forward a bit more than usual. Maybe it’s the extra width, or maybe it’s because I was testing a lot of boards, and was getting tired. I did notice that my heelflips were easier with this deck so take that for what it is worth.

Bottom Line on The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Mold Dead Vice Monster Skateboard Deck

For 2016, Toy Machine skateboards continues to put out quality decks. The Vice Mold is interesting, light, strong, and definitely worth exploring on a deeper level. I like it. I like the graphics, and I like the size and shape on this one. It’s definitely worth full retail. If you’re going to pick up a skateboard from the 2016 Toy Machine skateboard line up, then you definitely could do worse. The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Vice Mold Dead Vice Monster Skateboard Deck is a good option. Click here to buy this skateboard deck before it sells out, they are going fast.

Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Machine No Scooter Skateboard Deck Review

I’m a big fan of Black Ninja’s Youtube video, and he’s always chiming in about how bad scooters are, and well here you go, the mainstream is also on the side of the skateboarders. Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Machine No Scooter Skateboard Deck is a solid deck with some nice features, and a graphic that should very well showcase how much skateboarders hate scooters, because they get in the way. It’s not all of the riders, mind you, but a lot of them clog the skateboard parks and cause accidents. Anyways, this deck has some cool elements to consider.

Size and Shape

The size and shape of the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Machine No Scooter Skateboard Deck is 8 x 31.75, which is the board size I’ve been riding a lot. My shoe size is 12, so I like the width of this option, as it allows for easier catches on the flips. I also like it as an everyday board to ride through town. You can easily ollie curbs, hit kickflips off of jumpers, and of course, the classic heelflip. This is a great shape, 8 x 31.75 is solid. The shape is the standard Toy Machine option, with 7-ply North American maple being the layers.

Graphic Style

As mentioned above, the graphic design of the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Machine No Scooter Skateboard Deck is of the iconic Templeton style monster, only this time he’s riding a scooter and it’s crossed out. Skateboarders and scooters don’t always get along, and well, here you go, a graphic that says it. Of course this is going to rub right off, but hey, as long as you got the image, why not showcase your disdain for all those scooter riders right? Good overall graphic design.

Overall Board Feel

The board feels good, nice overall size, medium pop and little to no concave. The standard Toy Machine skateboard style if you ask me. The brand has some innovative updates, but their traditional wood, especially in their 2016 line is exactly as you’d expect from the late 1990s. That doesn’t mean that it’s bad in any way, but you should know what you’re getting into with this. The board feels great, easy to flip, light, and strong as you’d expect.

Bottom Line About The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Machine No Scooter Skateboard Deck

This is a strong deck. Don’t get me wrong, the shape and overall board feel is like the late 90s, but it’s good. The width is great, the length is perfect, and if you grip it right, you’re going to land with ease across the bolts. If you’re looking for a new board, don’t like scooters, and are a fan of Toy Machine skateboards, then you will definitely want to pick up the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Machine No Scooter Skateboard Deck. You can click here to get this with free shipping, right to your door.

Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Peeper Creeper Skateboard Deck Review

Here we go, another review of the latest from the blood sucking Toy Machine skateboard company. With their 2016 releases, they have been really putting out some quality wood. Continuing our test and review of the many skateboards that you are no doubt going to see online and in stores, the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Peeper Creeper Skateboard Deck is here. This is an interesting graphic and shape, with a lot of the expectations that you’d probably have for the brand. Up front this one caught my eye, and overall, the feel is classic Toy Machine skateboards style.

Size and Shape

First and foremost, let’s consider the size and the shape. If you are a street skateboarder, then you already know how this is going to pop and feel. The concave on Toy machine skateboards has never been deep, and in this case, you get that same late 1990s type of shape. The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Peeper Creeper Skateboard Deck is 8.0 x 31.75 and it feels a little lighter than others. Maybe that’s just a perception problem, maybe it’s just that I was wide awake when trying to test it. I don’t know. Overall, a good size, not too big with a 8.0 clearance that is just right for street skating.

Graphic Style

The graphics on the 2016 Toy Machine skateboards line up has been a mix of traditional Templeton style, and some quirks here and there. For the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Pepper Creeper Skateboard Deck, you’re going to find that Daniel Lutheran has a twisted solution. It’s a “creeper” vibe, with a dude looking at some women in the nude. Classic! Animal House comes to mind with this one, which is a solid solution from the Toy Machine line up.

Overall Board Feel

The overall board feel is good. I think that the 1990s shapes are alive and well today because they just work. This reminds me a lot of my last Shorty’s Muska deck I owned. I bought all 5 or 6 of the shapes back then, and skated the 7.75 x 31 for a long time. Whatever the case is, the feel on this Daniel Lutheran pro model skateboard is good. I was able to flip, pop, and even slide with ease.

The Bottom Line About The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Peeper Creeper Skateboard Deck

At the end of the day, you’re going to find that the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Peeper Creeper Skateboard Deck is a solid deck. It’s priced at full retail because it just came out in 2016, but it’s good. If you’re in the marketing for a Toy Machine deck, then you gotta check this pro model out. Support Daniel Lutheran, and get hyped on Toy Machine’s 2016 line up. You can buy Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Lutheran Pepper Creeper Skateboard Decks by clicking here.

Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Division White Skateboard Deck Review

2016 has been a pretty good year for skateboard decks. Toy Machine skateboards has put out some awesome decks, and this is a great example of what they are doing right now. The Toy Machine Toy Division White Skateboard Deck is the second in their series of this type. The other one is black, and looks a lot more like the original idea that comes from the band Joy Division. If you’re a fan of Joy Division, then you are immediately going to love this deck, as it features graphics that focus on that amazing album.

Size and Shape

The overall size and shape of this deck from Toy Machine is 8.125" x 31.875". That’s a good size for those that are riding bigger boards. It’s not the biggest, not the smallest, but it works. My shoe size is 12, and I have been riding 8 and higher since 2012. I used to only ride 7.75 as I’ve stated before, but lately, I find that these larger options are just as good in terms of overall trick advantage. If you’re going to be diving off of large platforms, and hitting rails, then this will definitely help you get the job done, with a little more surface area to work with.

Graphic Style

The graphic style, as mentioned above, is that of a Joy Division tribute. As you will see from this Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Division White Skateboard Deck and the black version of this deck, they have a distinct 1980s feel. The graphics have that Templeton icon in them, and well, it says “know pleasure” on it. Not a bad graphic, but definitely one that was meant for the fans of Joy Division.

Overall Board Feel

When testing the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Division White Skateboard Deck, I noticed that it was the same overall shape that you’d expect from the blood sucking Toy Machine. The shape hasn’t changed since the 1990s in my view. That’s a good thing, as it is overall a strong deck, that feels nice under your feet. I enjoyed the split test that I did on it, flipping, no-comply, and ollies all worked just the same as you’d expect.

Bottom Line on The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Division White Skateboard Deck

So here we go, what’s the overall bottom line? Well, the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 line up all have their ups and downs, but you can at least know that the company is going to put out a quality deck. This is a good skateboard, but doesn’t have anything extreme in terms of tech. It’s a solid board, in the shape that you’d expect from Toy Machine. It’s a pro level solution with graphics and feel that comes right out of the 1980s music and 1990s street skate scene. I like it. You can pick up the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Toy Division White Skateboard Deck by clicking here, while supplies last.

Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Deck Review

Toy Machine skateboards has been putting out a lot of decks in 2016. Some of them have hit local shops and some are online. With the release of Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Deck this one skewers pop culture yet again. I love how the turtle character is in love with themselves, providing an interesting solution for skateboarding glory.

Size and Shape

The size and shape of the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Deck is simple, it’s 8 x 31.75 as you’d expect from a lot of the skateboards that I’ve tested in this round up of reviews. The shape is standard Toy Machine options. I like it, the 7 ply hardwood solution is a standard since the late 1990s, of course. This pro model deck is nice, easy to flip, lightweight, and exactly what you’d expect from the blood sucking toy machine company.

Graphic Style

Templeton’s artistic flair once again shows up. This is Turtle Girl putting out a selfie with a stick. That’s it, it’s simple, and yet it’s effective. The Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Deck is definitely a bit of satire that you’re going to want to set up and ride to all glory. I love the style, and think that the board’s skewering of popular culture is on point.

Overall Board Feel

The overall board is great. Toy Machine’s decks are easy to ride, easy to ollie, and great with flipping. I was able to go down a few sets of stairs, and pull a flip trick or two. It’s really a good board for anyone that is looking for that classic freestyle skateboard, without going too wide or too short. It’s a standard skateboard in a lot of ways, and one that Billy Marks no doubt rides himself.

The Bottom Line Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Deck

Overall, I like the Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Deck. This 8 inch deck is solid, easy to flip, easy to land across the bolts, and will put you through months of wear and tear. There’s nothing too extreme here, no bells and whistles, just a good pro model deck from Toy Machine skateboards. I like it. If you’re looking for a solid upgrade to your Toy Machine skateboard line up for 2016, then this Billy Marks pro model will do the trick. You can buy Toy Machine Skateboards 2016 Billy Marks Turtle Girl Selfie Skateboard Decks by clicking here, and get them shipped to your door.

Toy Machine Harmony Fat Sect Skateboard Review

Toy Machine skateboards has been around a long time. Ed Templeton’s little company that could has done a lot, and it’s still around putting out some sick parts, some great boards and solid shirts. The art direction has always been great, and this time around, it’s time to review some of the 2016 Toy Machine skateboard releases. With that in mind, let’s look at Joshua Harmony’s Fat Sect skateboard deck. This is a deck that is one of the pro models that you’re going to find at skate shops today.

Size and Shape

First and foremost, the size of this solution is 8.125 inches wide. It’s a little wider than what I rode when I was a teenager. As a teenager I was riding a 7.75 for what seemed like forever. Anything above 8 inches seems a bit wide, but if you have big feet, or you want to ensure that your flips go underneath the arch of your foot, this is a good board to consider overall.

Graphic Style

The graphic design of the Toy Machine Harmony Fat Sect Skateboard, is a contrast of colors. It features several colors, and the overall graphic is standard blood sucking toy machine style. The Templeton style drawing gives you a down feel with a dog in a cone, upside down, and the character on their phone. This sort of satire is a classic trope of Toy Machine Harmony Fat Sect Skateboards.

Overall Board Feel

The shape that Toy Machine skateboards has put together over the years has always been the same. It’s slightly concave, nothing too crazy, the pop is good, and the overall feel is great. You can flip with ease, you can shove-it fast, and you can ollie without any trouble. Toy Machine skateboards never really struck me as innovators. They are artistic, and classic in their style. If you’re a fan of 90s overall skateboarding, especially in the streets, then this board will feel great for you.

The Bottom Line On The Toy Machine Harmony Fat Sect Skateboard Deck

At the end of the day, the Toy Machine Harmony Fat Sect Skateboard is not half bad. It’s 8.125 inches, has some decent pop, not a lot of concave, and features the Templeton stylized artwork. If you’re used to Toy Machine skateboards already, then you’re going to enjoy this Josh Harmony skateboard. It’s overall standard, and high quality. Toy Machine’s shapes are stuck in the 90s in some ways, but you know what, I like it. It’s a good deck and it’s not going to break the bank. You can buy Toy Machine Harmony Fat Sect Skateboard decks by clicking here, for under 40 bucks.

5Boro Skateboards Went To Guayaquil Then Galapagos - Skateboarding Dream Video

One of the coolest thing about the 5Boro NYC skateboards team is that they get to go on some insane trips. I'm just a guy sitting in an apartment in Indianapolis, while these guys are going around the world. Case in point, the recent trip that Red Bull went on with the 5Boro Skateboarding guys.

This folks, this is why I want to be a pro skater, and work with skateboarding. This type of trip is something that I cannot do in any other profession. I'm starting a skate brand, just to do crap like this.

Anyways, after the jump enjoy a clip from Red Bull and 5Boro NYC skateboards going through Guayaquil and onto the Galapagos Islands...so amazing, so rad, get stoked, hit the jump and see the best in the world skate the world.

5Boro Moto Series - Join or Die Video Edition

Here we go, another 5Boro NYC skateboard. This one is part of the Moto Series that I talked about a few days ago, or weeks, not sure. Anyways, this is a classic old school edition, and one that you no doubt are going to want to buy as part of the bigger set. Now, before you pick this skateboard up, consider this classic video from 5Boro NYC after the jump. It's still one of the best examples of street skateboarding right now.
