It’s been a while since I made any commentary about skateboard decks, and well, that’s because I have been busy doing a lot of different things. I am getting a master’s degree, I’m in the Midwest and it’s cold, and well, I have other priorities. But I caught a really cool set of skateboards thanks to 5Boro Skateboards and their commitment to artwork.

They just put out a series of skateboards with Dan Santoro at the helm, and it’s really cool. So I’m going to be talking about 5Boro skateboards, or something, I don’t know, reviewing boards gets old, especially since my tastes are different than your tastes. So if you are a fan of 5Boro skateboards, then you’re going to dig their stuff, as much as I did when I first discovered them.

Toy Machine Skateboards and Ed Templeton are symbiotic. Since it’s his company, and he’s been the creative part of the brand, it’s no wonder that this deck speaks volumes to his overall style, and artwork. The white skateboard deck is silk screened and heat pressed with 7 ply Toy Machine street design. The artwork is significant if you’re a fan of Ed Templeton’s drawing, because it’s very much his work on this deck. Toy Machine Ed Templeton Insecure Skateboard Deck

If you’re a fan of Toy Machine Skateboards, then you are a fan of Ed Templeton’s art, right? Well, here’s a deck that celebrates that overall graphic design elements. In this insecurity artwork deck, you get a pool shape, with the classic Templeton drawing style, and the Toy Machine skateboards branding. This is a solid skateboard, and is more of a cruiser and something that is better than the average street style board. If you want a Toy Machine cruiser, with larger wheels, and trucks, then your best bet is a style like this one. It’s solid, but hey, it can also flip if you need to throw down a tre flip etc. This seems to be an Ed Templeton pro model, although it doesn’t say that.

I’m so glad Collin Provost kicked the drinking habit and came back to skateboarding with full force. He’s here featured on the Most Fungi skateboard deck from the Blood Sucking Toy machine. Toy Machine skateboards once again puts out a stellar setup, this time around with a great graphic of fungus among us. The Toy Machine skateboard brand has always put out quality wood, and you know this Collin Provost deck is quite good overall. I love it. It’s stellar, and you know you can get nice pop and a lot more flip and more. Toy Machine skateboards does it again, with a nice silk screened, heat pressed 7 ply street skateboard deck.

5Boro Skateboards Cinco Barrios Skateboard Deck Review

Holy crap, they are back! The guys at 5Boro skateboards have really outdone themselves with this one. I love the team, love the skateboards, and really feel that the guys have been doing well in representing New York City skateboarding. As such, they have released this killer deck, and it’s available in two different sizes and colorways. I personally love this particular colorway, as it is very much a Latin American flavor. Mexican, to be exact. Either way, if you’re going to support core branded skateboarding, then you should get yourself one of these 5Boro skateboards.

5Boro Skateboards Mickey Mouse Running From Cops Skateboard Deck Review

Always Run From Police - 5Boro Skateboards

Ok, it’s not really Mickey Mouse. 5Boro skateboards puts a really cool spin on the classic mouse, but it’s not Mickey. Well, it kind of is, but it’s not. If you look at this skateboard from 5Boro skateboards, you’re going to find that the guys have doodled their way into giving you a bad idea, run from the police. Hey, I’m not going to advocate anything illegal, but I did run in my younger years. I grew up skateboarding Santa Monica, and well, the cops don’t like you hitting the streets or public areas, and you either ran or you were going to be fined or locked up.

With the release of the “Always Run From Police” deck, you get that classic 5Boro skateboards style, with a nod to the mouse that runs the house of Disney. Cool deck, may be a great one for the wall, where it may get appreciated.
